Post by David Zerkel »

Hello!

I will present a recital at 8:00 PM on September 21 in Ramsey Hall in the Performing Arts Center at the University of Georgia. The program looks like this:

Handel- Sonata in F Major
Schubert- Three Songs
Saint-Saens- Morceau de Concert
Dossett- Trilogy for Bass Trombone
Semler-Collery- Barcarolle et Chanson Bachique
Paganini- Moses Variations

The following week, I will hit the road and perform the same program at the follwing schools:

9/25- University of Wisconsin
9/26- Lawrence University
9/27- Illinois State University
9/28- The University of Illinois
9/29- Indiana University

Details re. time and location to folllow.

The program is pretty listener friendly, but not nearly as cool as Dave Kirk's!

Hope to see some of you next month!

The time has changed for my program in Athens. The recital is now at 8:00 instead of 7:30.

In a moment strangely reminiscent of my military career, one of our administrators vetoed the 7:30 time because "Faculty recitals are at 8:00, not 7:30". Okay.

I would suggest anyone anywhere close to one of these recitals make the trip to hear Dave Zerkel play. I won't make this long winded so........It will be nothing short of inspiring. Period. I might be at two but you can definitely count me in for the Illinois University one since it's one of the closer ones to Chicago.

Greetings,

For those who are still on the fence, there are few artists in our profession of the caliber of David Zerkel. I had the privilege of hosting a recital of his my first year teaching at BGSU, and he was absolutely amazing! This is a great chance to get a marvelous sound and concept in your ears.

Best of luck on your tour Professor Zerkel!

Yup, Dave definitely knows the fingerings. You are a dolt if you don't catch this show.

I'm going to try and make it to the ISU concert. Too bad you're not getting to play in Krannert! Kemp Hall is very good, though.

DZ's recital was amazing!! Those of you who have the opportunity to hear him and hang on this tour, take advantage!!!

Oh, and some belated happy birthday gifts probably wouldn't be out of the question either: I'm thinking more in the genre of wheat-and-barley. Happy birthday (a day late) DZ!!!!

Bump for Dave

Post by Andy Rummel »

Hey all...

A little bump for Dave Zerkel. His amazing recital will be broadcast live (to those in attendance!) in Kemp Recital Hall on the campus of Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois tomorrow night. The recital starts at 8:00pm on Wednesday and is FREE! We would love to have as many local Tubenetters in attendance as possible. I am sure that there will be an opportunity for a hang afterwards if anyone is interested.

Hope to see you tomorrow evening for a great night of music making!

Amazing

David Zerkel was at Lawrence today. He is a great teacher as he showed during his masterclass. But one of the most amazing performers on the tuba. His performance tonight was simply amazing.

Amazing recital by Dave last night at U of Illinois! It was inspiring. Anyone who makes empty statements like "Perantucci tubas are dull or limited to one color" should start listening to guys like Dave Zerkel play LIVE. Thanks for coming to the midwest!
