damaged flight case- any suggestions for repair?

After a recent international flight, the borrowed flight case I was using came back missing a wheel. The wheels are the type that fold into the case (they pull out and swivel when needed to wheel the beast around) and are about 3 inches in diameter.

The only manufacturer's mark I can find on the case is on the inside, where there is a sticker that says "B. Marstaller". From what I understand, the case was purchased many years ago in Germany. The outside of the case is very similar to an Anvil case. (But the wheels aren't the same- already checked.)

If anyone knows where I might be able to get a replacement wheel, please let me know. All I need is the part, as I have someone who can install the wheel. Any leads will be appreciated, as I would like to return the case in the same condition I recieved it in.

im pretty sure that if you just take any of this information to a hardware store (home depot, lowes etc.) you'll be able to find a wheel that is pretty much exactly like the last one. it's a flight case. it was probably a rolling hardware project anyways. plus, who cares if the wheel doesn't match the others exactly. it just matters what it protects on the inside. good luck!

Sometimes you may find a manufacturer's name stamped or imprinted on the wheel. Perhaps -- if lucky -- you might find one on the remaining wheel, and this could provide a lead to locating a replacement.

It isn't the wheel itself that is causing difficulty- it would be fairly easy to find a little black rubber wheel about 3" in diameter. The bigger problem is that the whole spring-loaded-tuck-the-wheel-safely-in-the-case-thingy is also missing. I apologize for not being more clear, but I think anyone who has ever seen the type of wheel I'm talking about probably knows what I mean.

Markertek.com has a bunch of the industrial case pieces available. To do it right and not screw up the case more you should be able to find a road case manufacturer in your city. Other places to contact would be L&M Engineering (www.lmengineering.com), Anvil cases (www.anvilcase.com) or mcmaster-carr (www.mcmaster.com).

If all those fail and you need some TLC - the folks at Nashville Custom Case are great and will help anybody. 615-259-2273.
