WTB - Conn 48K Jumbo Sousaphone

Post by macwinty »

Might be wishful thinking, but does anyone out there have a Conn 48K Sousaphone they'd like to part with?

I'd like my Martin Mammoth to have a big brother!

Winston

There was one sold on ebay a year or two ago - the seller was a guy from OK who was letting go of his second jumbo! I guess he found a good closeout.

There was a 46k on ebay last week, a King monster sousa about 9 months ago, a 48K about a year ago (that I bought), and before that a pair of jumbos about 4 years ago. There was a Martin for sale in online classifieds in New Orleans before the storm with a purported 12" bell collar.

It took me several years to find a jumbo sousa for sale from the time I decided I wanted one, and I had to have the cash on hand at all times for those years. Since they are so rare, I suggest that you don't hold out for the 48k, the 4th valve is not at all necessary and just adds weight.

Is the Conn 48K Sousaphone the largest ever made?
