Liability Insurance for Musicians
My quintet needs to get liablilty insurance for the touring that is coming up along with some of the recitals we are planning at local high schools. Any suggestions as to where one might go to get this insurance?

I don't know if it applies to what you are doing, but I do know that you can purchase insurance through the AFM if you are a member. Hope this helps.

I went through USAA (if you or a member of your family is in the military) and I purchased "Valuable Personal Property" insurance. Both of my horns are insured my Kalison for 6,000 and my Yamaha for 1,000. Costs about 10 bucks a month...

My brass choir (~12 to 14 piece -- Christmas season only) used to play at the local shopping mall until they started requiring a $1M (insert little finger tip between lips ala Dr. Evil) liability insurance. Hence, we no longer spread Christmas cheer there.
Does "Clarion" cater to musicians somehow? Any other "musician friendly" options out there?
Curious in Kokomo,

I've done this a few times. For a single event, the insurandce is not really that expensive. The last time I bought a policiy for a single day at a single location, it was less than $100.Steve Inman wrote:My brass choir (~12 to 14 piece -- Christmas season only) used to play at the local shopping mall until they started requiring a $1M ... liability insurance.
Anmd to a earlier poster, most schools do require that you show proof of a general liabilty policy. The school wants you to pay if someomne slips in the theater and sues.
