Hard case for a Marzan BBb, or custom cases?

Post by bwhitney916 »

Hey,

I have a Marzan BBb that needs a hard case. I'm thinking I'll probably need to get one made, but Walt Johnson is a bit out of my price range. anybody got any ideas?

please email whitneyw@bghs.org

thanks!

You can probably get a wood MTS case that will fit. If your Marzan was made by B&M, then I suspect that any case that would fit a 5/4 CC would give you something to work with. A case for a rotary tuba, however, won't provide space for the valves.

I think the MTS cases can be obtained thorugh Brasswind, and if that's wrong, hopefully someone who knows will chime in.

Be warned: Traditional wooden cases are heavy. But I don't know of a source for custome lightweight plastic cases.

Bill,

You can get an MTS case like Rick said, but they are molded plastic, not wood. Give Roger @ WWBW a call, he can tell you which size you're going to need.

If you've got the B&M Marzan with the removable bell, I've got the original cases for it, but I woiuldn't even think about shipping the tuba in it--it's a 2-case affair. The bell case is okay (basically a big square box), but the body case is unbelievably flimsy and wouldn't probably survive a couple of good whacks.

If you want a woodshell case, perhaps Badger State has a stock model that will fit.

Slant rotor or piston?
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Sorry. I was directing the question to the originator, and guess I wasn't very clear...
