Well....

I would imagine if you fell and died, you may not be able to reach the high G# in Bydlo!

Forgive my ignorance, but how would rock-climbing affect playing tuba?

There will likely be some walls where you will be required to remove the tuba from your backpack.

Many, many years ago I taught rock climbing for a short while. Done safely, climbing should not affect your tuba playing. However, if you or those you are climbing with aren't properly trained and equiped, there are a lot of ways to get hurt; and may of them will damage parts you need to play the tuba.

The most common injuries that might affect your playing would be hand injuries. Wedging your hands in cracks with very rough granite, etc. can scrape yor hands. Trying to haul yourself up with only your finger-tips can sprain fingers.

A falling rock in the face can obviously injure your lips. Wear a helmet, make sure those climbing above you always yell out "ROCK", and make sure you protect your face when you hear it.

Make sure you learn proper climbing and safety techniques and you should be fine. In fact, the aerobic benefits of climbing may help your tuyba playing.

I took it up and trained for six months to climb Devils Tower last summer. I'm too old (56), but I did summit once and I haven't sold my shoes.....yet. The rock taught me several valuable lessons about problem solving!
