I have no idea what the patent was, but I have a Leeder cornet mouthpiece (same 1896 patent quoted) that has the same profile
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

If it's like the GW mouthpieces, it isn't. The GW mouthpieces look sort of like that, and the rim (at least on the Taku) is just as thick as a regular Conn Helleberg.
