Hey Larry,
If you are doing this, get a recording and the part way ahead of time, it's hard.

Not the worst thinkable situationschlepporello wrote:OK, we finally had our performance tonight. I'm still alive!
I safely can guarantee you that you will NEVER be asked to play in a staging of the opera, from where the last part of your screen-name was inspired. By the way a funny role, that of Leporello, even if the opera is not that funny at all.schlepporello wrote:Time will tell if I get invited to play with them again or not.
If somebody should bully you about your playing, just take the attitude of the guy, who had put “Johnâ€

Oh, Schleppy, you disappoint me.schlepporello wrote:I figure that they will come to their senses Monday morning and say, "Good Lord! What have we done?" Certainly not at all as a tuba player, where I have no doubts that you fit well into your musical environments.
But the reason, that I could issue a written in stone guarantee, that you never will play tuba in a staging of Don Juan, is extremely simple: Mozart never wrote one note for tuba. And he had very convincing reasons not to do so.
(Whether Verdi ever wrote a single note for tuba is another debate).
Schlep, play, and enjoy!

Congratulations, Schlep,
You had fun doing something different and made some nice cabbage.
My wife is always willing to go out to dinner at a nice place if I pay for it with giggin' money. It's an extra treat.
If you keep blowing trombone, you may have to start drinking "Blatz" Beer.
