I am a college student from Michigan State Unviersity. I have a budget of about $5500 and I'm looking for a silver plated 4 piston 1 rotary CC tuba 4/4. Please contact me if you know of anything of have something in mind. I also would not mind being informed if someone has a Besson 4 valve Eb (or with 5th), front piston silver.

Honestly if I were you I would check out a Kalison D.S. I know that there is a lot of bad press about them but they're just like any other tuba. And in your price range too. personally I love mine. Or maybe check out bassclefbrass.com.

right, you can find the Kalison at tuba exchange.com or there might still be one on here for 4,000.

Thanks.....SOME people in hear are being sarcastic about my request....and YES I know that it's hard to find something with my restrictions, but it's always worth a shot because you never know what's out there. I was looking at the Kalison DS....I've heard a lot of bad rap about intonation and whatever...but I've also talked to people who have no trouble at all...since avery tuba of every brand is different and every player is different.

There are a couple of HB2's on the market right now. If you're short the bread, maybe you could sell your body a couple thousand times and make up the difference.

Or not.

If that's really what you want, then figure something out. You have 3 choices, in my opinion: 1) close the gap somehow, 2) recalibrate your requirements or 3) keep looking.

The signature on the post is Brooke. Normally speaking, I would find it insulting to a female to encourage her to sell her body in order to raise money for...well, anything. Learn to use your ears for pitch (not just glasses), and go for the best sound you can afford. Then, work with it; trombone players do that as a matter of course.

Sorry to say, but that is SOP on this board. If you want a non-sarcastic answer, you are aout of luck here. Don't get mad. It won't do you any good and it only makes people get mean in their answers. No better way to sart a flame session than to react to someone who is being an arse. (believe me, I know)

You have gotten some great suggestions and I wouldn't forget to thank the people who are helpful. The Kallison I tried had great intonation and sound but I went for my B&S instead because it sounded better even though I have had to fight intonation for a bit.

With my medial seperation from the Army not to far away, I wish it were an option to me. I am not suggesting we become too sensitive, but I would like to avoid directly offending women that visit in order to avoid driving them off.

Regarding the Kalison in the picture...the price is so low because it is a four valver and in BBb. As for the DS model...I didn't regret owning one. It was a decent tuba, and most of time when I was having "horn problems" it was the player and not the instrument. Who'd have known?

What I did regret was buying it new from the tuba exchange. The minute you walk out the door with your shiny Kalison, it drops about 1.5K in value. However, if you get a nice used Kalison (and take care of it....this kinda goes without saying) there's no reason why you couldn't sell it for about what you paid later on down the road. That's assuming of course that you even want to sell it, and depending on your needs you might not!
