I need a name!!!!!

Today we found out that our third child will be a boy. ETA is March.
Problem is we don't really have any boy names, all the ones we had agreed upon were girl names.
Current children are Jacob Hamilton (6) and Savannah Marie (2).
My wife really wants us to settle on a decision ASAP so I need all the (good) ideas I can get!

P.S. Doc, my wife is slightly considering Wyatt but that isn't really on my list.

Since I am not trying to compete with J.S. Bach there is a good chance that this will be it - the C-Section presents the ideal opportunity for additional "surgery." Still under consideration.

I have never been partial to "Juniors" and I would not want my older son to feel bad about not being a namesake when he gets older. That, and I heard "Marty Farty" and "Martin Fartin" just one time too many. In fact if I ever hear it again...

You can get "name books" in various places, probably online.

I read something interesting somewhere about name popularity. Names go through cycles (except made-up names, of course.) The names that are popular for the "upper" class trickle down in a few years to the "lower" class and then of course a new set of names becomes popular with the upper class.

I kind of like Scott and Ross but don't know which those names are popular with currently. Mylo is uncommon...what rhymes with that?

How about....Bloke? Now, there's a name that rings!

John: The last guy my wife was with before we got married was named John (no jokes about occupations, please )
Peter, Paul: Being involved in church and sometimes the ministry, most pastor's sons I meet are named Paul, the remaining few Peter.
Samuel: very high on my list but not remotely on hers
George: low on both of our lists. 2 or 3 syllable names seem to go better with my last name, and the last two leaders named George have not necessarily been universally praised.

Funny you should mention Paul....my name. Nope not a preacher or preachers' son...but was the name of the preachers' son that my wife was engaged to before she met me...

I was named after my two grandfathers.
When my wife was pregnant with our son she wanted options (although we had agreed on Michael) so I worked up a list and presented it to her in alphabetical order....top pf the list ...Angus
She went back to Michael.

Anyway, it fits your 2 or 3 sylable criteria.... try it on...

I have suggested Buck in the past. My wife wouldn't even let me name a dog buck. Seriously.

We could all call him "Bill."
Lots of famous "Bill" tuba players - Bill Bell, Bill Rose, etc...

My wife had considered William / Bill but my biological father's adopted father (that's a mouthful) was named Bill Neilan. He was an abusive drunk and it took my biological father three wives and three sons before he figured out how to be a good dad since he had nothing to go on.
I had suggested Karl / Carl but that was pretty much the same person (or worse) on my wife's side.

Right now my wife is considering Franklin (aka Frankie), Jackson, and Andrew.
I still like Samuel, Vincent (she says too New Jersey), and even Woodrow (aka Woody).

Then again, there is the tuba name of Alexander (Alex.) I just hope he would be able to sing in tune. We were very seriously considering Kalison (aka Kali, Kaly or Kalie) for a girl.

I'm not going to suggest a name. But what I will suggest is that any name you think about using, go through the combinations of rhymes, derivitives, possible nicknames, and combinations of intials to try to obviate or eliminate anything that is patently offensive or has a great chance of being the brunt of teasing. With my last name, the potential for teasing is rife, and by judicious selection of given names, my son has had a minimum of name teasing.

And please don't get too off the wall or inventive with spelling. It only causes grief later.

And please consider using his first name instead of middle. I was named after my dad, so I have always used my middle name, and forms are a nightmare, and always will be. One of my first cousins is the same way, and he just decided to switch to being called his first name, especially after he moved away from home, to end the mess. I guess I'm just too hard headed. But then again, I play tuba also.
