Tune Any Note Slide

Post by Ace »

I was just looking at the Kanstul site and noticed their "Tune Any Note" slide on their G bugle. Could this be the same as a kicker on a tuba's main slide? It might be a nice feature on a tuba.

Fred Marzan, in consort with Boehm and Meinl, designed the Marzan tuba with the main tuning slide upward and accessible to the left hand for easy intonation adjustment. I thought it was a good idea.

Also, on rotary valved instruments whose main slide is facing directly downward, I have added rods, with a handle on top, that attach to the main slide and extend the length of the body of the tuba, so that the main slide can be operated by the left hand while playing.

Kanstul's tubas also have a main tuning slide facing up and down, to allow the "Tune any note" ability on their tubas as well.
