Double-bass stool-cum-stand

Post by Chuck(G) »

I'm in the market for a double bass stand and it would be nice if I didn't have to lug both a stand and a stool as well as the fiddle to gigs; particularly if I'm also bringing along a tuba (i.e., I'd like to do this in one trip).

There used to be a wheeled stand/stool, but I can't find it on the web anymore. The only stool-with-stand that I can find is the KC stand:

http://www.kcstrings.com/bass-stool-stand.html

Looks like the addition of a set of wheels might do the trick for an all-in-one.

Has anyone used one of these or have any experience with something else that might be better?

Chuck:

There was some guy in New Orleans selling a "bass buggy" that comprised a stand, cart, and stool. I can't find his site anymore and fear this is a result of Katrina. The model for his site was a young female bass player with a very, very short skirt.

You may want to check the DB forum at www.talkbass.com as this topic comes up a lot. Haven't looked in a while, but I recall a thread involving "stool samples".

Good Luck.
Mark

I remember the topic on this thing coming up on the the old 2xbass list. Bob Golihur has a link to the seller on his bass links page, but it goes to a performing group's site--no buggy.

Fortunately, there's the WayBack machine and I think this is the baby right here:

I'll drop the guy an email and see if it bounces.

A prefix meaning "with". A share quoted "cum-dividend" means the buyer is entitled to a dividend currently attaching to it, similarly with cum-rights and cum-bonus.

Yes. As in "cumberbund", meaning "with a berbund".

As long as it leads to that all-important "with shot", who cares who's standing?
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
