effie on backorder?

Post by dopey »

I bought effie suite #1 over a year ago and well managed to loose the tuba part.. I'm playing it tomorrow for jury and have been reading off the score for practice. Last week I thought i'd order me another copy to get the tuba part again..

its on backorder! I ordered it from jwpepper Wedsnday and when you search for it on the site it doesn't say anything about backorder, even when you order it .. the only place it said it was after the order on a invoice copy in real small print... needless to say im kinda annoyed as I was wanting to have a copy when I play folk dance and lullaby tomorrow..

Grr! is this just a Jwpepper thing or the publisher itself?

The publisher of Effie Suite, Margun Music, is distributed by Shawnee Press/Music Sales. Amoung us dealers, Music Sales is notorious for having items on back order or never delivering.

Effie might also be a Print on Demand product only at this point. Many of the Shawnee pieces as well as the Margun products fall in this category.

Personal rant of frustration:

It is a definitely not a JW Pepper issue only and many of the dealers struggle with this company. I have voiced my opinion to my representative, several higher up managers and the CEO. Unfrotunately things have not changed at the company. I do not see it changing in the future although promises have been made for the least 5+ years that I have been working with them. I know of several dealers who have dropped thier pieces from their catalog. It is a such a good catalog (Chester, Novello, Paterson, Shawnee, Margun, etc.) and I do hope they get their act in gear, but I do not hold out much hope.
