Oystein Baadsvik at Carnegie tonight!

Post by BVD Press »

Dear All,

If you happen to be near New York City tonight, Oystein Baadsvik is giving a recital at Carnegie Hall:

I believe there are tickets available and are $20.00 each.

I hope some of the TubeNetters will be there. I know I will be, but first the Carnegie Deli for a bite to eat. Sean mentioned no more food pictures so you will have to imagine the food in your head!

I had the fine privilage of seeing this exact concert on Monday at the University of Kentucky. He gave a pre-showing of the same program he'll be using at the Carnegie Hall performance. All I can say is for any of you going, be prepared to see the BEST performance in the world that you have ever seen. I cannot imagine ever seeing a tuba performance of this caliber anywhere else in the world right now.

The program is filled with a wide variety of music pulling from various genres and nationalities. The end of the program is absolutely insane. Just when you think Baadsvik has pulled out all of the stops, you are again amazed!!

Fnugg was AMAZING!!!!!!

This was one amazing and exceptional performance and one of the best demonstrations of musical artistry on the tuba that I have ever heard. Most of us were pretty stunned at the end of the recital. It was also great to see other tuba folk there, such as: Harvey, Howard Johnson, Kyle Turner, Toby Hanks, Art Hovey, Jay Rozen, and Jeff Furman (I see him all the time anyway)! Sorry if I missed anyone. Many of my past students were there too. It was a great night for my son and me.

Now THAT is the privilage of we didn't get at UK. Seeing all of those tuba greats!! I was also lucky enough to shake his hand and express my total joy in the concert with Oystein. We conversed a bit. If it had been with Oystein and all of those other great tubists... wow.

People are people just like the rest of us, we all wear pants the same way. However, some people's pants just make them play tuba a little bit better than I do!! :)
