The mouthpiece I currently use with my Eb Bass is the Perantucci 84XS, however be prepared - this has a GREAT sound and perhaps may not match the sounds produced by the rest of the bass section. Another suggestion for EEb Bass in Brass Bands is the trusty Denis Wick 2L - This produces the traditional sound as required by brass bands.

As for Bb Bass - I currently use a Schilke 69C4. A mate of mine is using my VB 24AW.

At the end of the day, you need to get a hold of a few mouthpieces (borrow off other players!) and test them.

If you go to band competitions or conferences, you can also test play mouthpieces there!

Hope this helps!

I use a PT-84 for EEb, and PT-86 for BBb. Perhaps you should try the 86, which is a little bigger than the 84.

I also know a tubist who use PT-88 on EEb, CC and BBb-tuba.

I use a Mike Finn 3 on BBb's (992 and 994GS), and my partner in crime uses a MF1. The EEb's currently use Wick 3L and 2L, although are very tempted by Mike Finn 2's.

Any suggestions?
Don't know anything about the Perantuccis but the Wicks are great mouthpieces esp. for those horns. The 3L is similar to your 24 AW except the rim is not so fat. But it has the big bowl with a smaller diameter rim. The 2L is a standard size like an 18 or Helleberg and the 1 is bigger still. I use a 2L on my Boosey and a 1X on my Helicon.
If the 982 uses a small shank use a Wick sans "L"
