Did you put your person on a WAL☼MART property between Thanksgiving and December 24th?

No, but only because the Wal-Mart in Gainesville smells funny. I didn't want to contribute to the smell.

Yes, but only because my water softener ran out of salt, and it's significantly cheaper and quicker to get 40# bags of Morton pellets from Wal-Mart than to wait for the Culligan truck.

I know folks love to bash Wally Mart and until last year I had never been in one. On my way home from band rehearsal late one night I realized I needed some milk and Wally Mart was on my way home. The place was extremely clean, well lit inside and well stocked. The food prices were a good 30% cheaper on most items. Milk that retails around here for $3.40 a gallon was $1.98 and Johnsonville Brats that sell for $5.50 in a grocery store were $3.30 and so on.

While I can afford to shop anywhere I have no problems stopping at Wally World and saving 30%. With this particular store I don't even worry about leaving an expensive car in the parking lot as it is very clean and well lit.

OTOH - I stopped on my way to a friends house at another Wally World and it was filthy, the parking lot was covered with broken glass, dirty security cars lurked in the parking lot, the store was poorly stocked and the help unhelpful. Lines were long and I would never stop there again. Even the customers were shall we say in need of somebody hosing them off! It looked like they had bused the county lock-up in to shop.

Yes, since Wal-Mart carries the necessities of modern American life, different Wal-Marts will reflect the different cross-sections of modern American citizenry.

The terrorists have it all wrong. If they wanted to do real damage to this country, they'd not bother with the national monuments and business buildings; instead if they'd set off incendiaries at the largest Wal-Marts across the country at peak shopping; then they'd really wipe out the great people who actually keep this country running.

Fortunately, they don't understand that in their hyper-ideological, or is that just plain idiotic, ways.

I have two Wal-Marts close by. I have been thinking about taking a flyer on a First Act bass guitar. What do you think guys? Would I be better off with a 20 year old Fender Jazz bass off of E-Bay?

Nope.

Though if there were something I wanted to buy and walmart.com had the lowest price, I'd have bought from there.

They're clear on the other side of town, so no, I don't go there.

I think Walmart succeeds in certain communities where they're a good fit. On the south end of town here, the big new opening is a high-end supermarket in new digs, specializing in organic locally-grown produce and gourmet items. (How many different brands of pecorino cheese does Wal-Mart carry?)

They started as a rock-bottom discount grocery and bought a building where several "supermarkets" had gone out of business, located within a couple of minutes of two big-name chain markets. They stocked locally-grown produce, organics, speciality meats and ethnic foods--and often manage to beat the chain markets on common items. (i.e. you can buy a gallon of milk there without getting ripped off).

Shrewd marketing always pays off.

Buy a new VW and Volkswagon will give you a First Act guitar.
Of course the guitar will probably act like most VW's and will soon start performing poorly and will need many expensive repairs!

That's OK. I can fix the guitar. You're on your own for the VW!

The only reason why I didn't shop there was that there are no Wal-Mart stores in Vietnam.
