AAb BAT for farmers??

20 foot "sonic hail cannons" are being tested to protect crops and cars from hail, by supposedly disrupting the formation of hailstones in the atmosphere with their blasts. At 20 feet long, my guess is the fundamental pitch is around an Ab.

There is now one at the Nissan plant in MS. Perhaps Wade has heard one?

You know, not many foks know that Thomas Edison built a 125 ft. brass horn for recording experiments. That would make the fundamental something like CCCCC?

Those are normally only used by pros. Regular folks use a BBBBBb...
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Maybe it is actually going to produce pitches above normal human and animal hearing?

I suspect that whatever's producing the sound wave is creating an impulse with a pretty steep leading edge, which means that the harmonic content can be pretty rich. If it was a pure sine wave, I doubt that you could do much more than feel it.

Has anyone done any sort of study to see if these things actually work? 120 db isn't much by atmospheric standards. Heck, the average community band probably gets pretty close to that...
