Suite From Harry Potter (for Orchestra)

Post by jobriant »

In March, our community orchestra is playing the "Suite from Harry Potter" by Williams (John Williams, I presume).

Has anyone played this? What can you tell me about the tuba part or parts?

Are there multiple tuba parts? What are the ranges like, and what sort of writing is it (i.e., lots of technical stuff, lots of tied whole notes, etc.)?

Thanks....

Have a good night's rest before you attempt to play this piece. Our orchestra sis it last year and the biggest problem with the tuba parts is staying awake during rehearsals and concerts.

If this is the arrangement I'm thinking about, there is a nice movement for the horn section, a strange movement for harp and contrabassoon, and a difficult movement (Quidditch) for brass, including tuba.
