Has anyone put together a complete discography of Howard Johnson? It always amazes me when I see his name come up, or see and or hear him at a concert or in a recording or movie. I was just cruising his personal website and didn't find any sort of a complete discography. And while we are on this thread please feel free to list off your favorite Howard Johnson recordings/ concerts. I'd love to get my ears on more of his stuff!
My favorite HOJO moment was 3 or 4 years back when he came out with a few other horn players for the second set of Medeski, Martin & Wood's Halloween show in NYC.... Of course the horns weren't announced on the bill so it was quite a special surprise to say the least! I was at the show with Andrew Hitz and we both about hit the floor when HoJo stepped out on stage!

There's a record that Bob Parlocha (syndicated jazz dj) plays every now and then. I believe it's a quintet led by Archie Shepp with himself and Howard making up the front line. The name of the album is "Tray of Silver" (it's all Horace Silver tunes). Of course, the first time I heard it, I went right to the computer only to discover that it is out of print. I seem to recall that I found someone selling it used online for upwards of $100; I just checked Amazon and they now have a few used ones for more reasonable prices.
