It is doubtful they will ever make a CC, because their main target is to be a lesser priced BBb. To that end they use a tried and trued, albeit very old, German/Russian design that has been around for decades, some would say centuries, with all of the tooling already in place and depreciated out, so all they have to spend money on besides labor and materials is just the occasional repair on the tooling.

But a little work on the valve design and execution would be nice so you don't have to spend a significant percentage again of the purchase price over time just to keep one playable. But then again, my experience is with only one nickel plated example.

About a year ago I was in the Tuba Exchange & Vince brought a prototype St. Petersburg CC out of his office for me to play. I though it played quite well for the few minutes I tried it. It had 4 valves & they were in the process of working with the factory to design a 5th valve.

They have had problems with valve linkage breaking, thumb rings snapping off, and the bells crinkle by just looking at them wrong. Spit valves fall off, etc. I have never had ANY of these issues with the St Pete.

Well...Just from what I know, and have learned, the reason for the linkage breaking, I guess that Mirafone has been putting plastic link kind of things in two area, which is why they're weak. Replace them with metal, and they'll be fine...thumb rings...well, I'll say I sorta had that problem, but just have a repair shop put a pair of filet's (please help me if that's the wrong terminology, repairmen!), but that was due to me putting a fair amount of weight on them (carrying it by the ring...that's why) And finally, bell crinkles? You're the only one I've known that has said a bell has crinkled on a Mirafone...
But once again, my 2 cents worth...
I think I might end up as a grumpy old man when I get old...
