WTB: Mouthpiece

Post by geneman06 »

Im looking to get a new/used mouthpiece for my PT606, Ive been looking at the Miraphone Rose, G&W Alan Baer, Mike Finn MF3H, and PT 36. If anyone has one they'd be willing to part with for under $100, i would be innterested to buy. OR, if anyone can suggest something good, I'm open to suggestions.

Are you on that tight a budget that you can't buck up only about another $10 or so for the shipping?

Too much concern about shipping on small items is like the advice a stock broker gives that if the reason to consider a particular stock transaction is the commission, you shouldn't be in the stock market.

I've tried many mouthpieces with my 606 over the past year. The Monette 94 and 98 are outstanding, but quite pricey. A close second (and on some days the preferred mothpiece) is the Mike Finn 3H. My 3H really seems to fit the 606 well. Aren't Mike's mouthpieces about $100, in the natural silver finish?

I hate to come off as a cheap bum of a tuba player, but I am a college student, i have no steady income. the truth is, if i can find a used mp in excellent condition, its not worth paying extra for a new one, especially if im not sure if it's THE mp for me.

That is a reasonable position. Have you tried your colleages and your band director/private instructor? If they don't have one, they might know someone who uses one that you could get in contact with to try out.

I know they are not in your price range but after trying "everything" out there, I found that my SSH and a LOUD LM5 with my SSH screw rim are the best fit for my PT-606 depending on the colour you are looking for. Next best is a Laskey 30H and PT-50+ combo.
