duet with horn

Post by Biggs »

My french horn buddy and I would like to end our senior year in high school with a bang. I have looked into horn/tuba duets and found Filippi's Divertimento to look promising. Does anyone have an opinion on this piece? Also recommended to me was Frackenpohl's Brass Duo. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

If you don't want the piano, get "Suite (Twelve Duets)" for horn and tuba by Alec Wilder. Published by Margun Music, #MM113. My wife and I play them all the time.

Harvey Phillips recorded the Wilder Suite on a Golden Crest LP. Hopefully, his recent negotiations to have these recordings released on CD will come to fruition soon.
