Seems to me, given the weather, all those Iowa HS Bands have probably been forced to do synchronized swimming.

We're With the Band

Scott Simmons, trumpet
When you’re in band, says Simmons, "people look up to you." (He’s speaking both figuratively and literally; he’s six-foot-six "and still growing!") The Norwalk High School senior is the leader of the trumpet section and claims:
"It’s the most powerful instrument in the band. We are really confident. I'm not saying this to brag, but our trumpet section seems to be the best at everything: playing, marching—and volume." Which delights him, since "I listen to metal music, so I'm pretty used to loud."

M. Waldsmith was quoted in the article as not liking country music.
John Reno has reminded me so many times, "There is mood music and there is food music. Musicians from here, Iowa or anywhere may find that acts who play, at least some country with competence and respect can work a lot. If you can hack Gospel music with four part harmony you can book all your Sundays too.
"This band plays both kinds of music, country and western."
