I work a lot on transposition and being able to play in treble clef has become a very valuable tool to me. (it gives me a lot more chances to play than i would normally recieve) Plus, I think that having the entire book is pretty valuable.

I've also found that el-cheapo versions of the trumpet arbans are everywhere, but the tuba version is pretty expensive.


Patrick Sheridan also has a published version for F and Eb tuba. You can find that on his website.

Buy the Arban trombonbe book. Transpose the octave.

I am convinced that 90% of the problems with rhythm, tone, intonation, articulation, technique, and overall prowess on the horn are related to air issues.

Agreed. If you have the Arban trombone book (C.Fischer), you have it. Steal the accompaniment from your friendly neighborhood trumpeter.

I have mine, but some of the younger guys probably don't have it. They won't be able to play the Carnival of Venice until they play the book through a few times!

the tuba version is a recent edition by Jerry Young (well, several years old now)

The trombone version is written in, well, trombone range.

The tuba version is written, um...in tuba range. Actually, it's adapted for CC tuba, IIRC. Fingering patterns remain the same as the trumpet version.

The tuba Arban book doesn't have a version of Carnival of Venice in it.

I just happened across a really nice tuba/euph quartet plus solo euph arrangement this evening on Sibelius:

You'll need the free plug-in, Scorch, if you haven't already got it. Then you can simply purchase, print out, and play the solo euph part, it's straight from the Arban's and in bass clef as requested.
