HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The community band is coming for a party tonight and I've got my corned beef brisket, black-eyes peas, and potatoes all ready to cook for Noon tomorrow.
Have a safe New Year's Eve and a happy/prosperous New Year! Ya Hoo!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We'll have the black-eyed peas at my house tomorrow, too. Happy New Year, Dan, and to the entire TubeNet family, as well.

Hey, Doc. Don't you know that when you travel "abroad," you need to be extra kind to the foreigners?

Oh yeah! We have a local restaurant chain (Rafferty's... yes, Bloke... the same as in Clarksville) that makes killer "Hoppin' John" soup. That should do nicely in place of black-eyed peas!Chuck(G) wrote:By black-eyed peas, do you guys mean "Hopping John"?

So is indigestion, 'specially if you get the corned beef hash.bloke wrote:The first time I had grits was at Scott Watson's house at Kansas. I believe he and Mary made fun of me because I had never had grits before. Brings back some memories.
' standard fare at the Shoney's breakfast buffet...
I remember goint to the Shoney's Breakfast Buffet in College on a Sunday if we could get up early enough. The secret to making everything taste good was covering it up with that sawmill gravy.
I think I have acid reflux just from remembering that joint...

I only know that..................
1. Sometimes, the best briskit is the one cooked by yourself at the pit you made in your own back yard.
2. We had freshly killed deer for new year's. (Yes, I killed it, and i'm not ashamed).
3. You can have all the peas you want, including mine. That gives me more room for deer meat or briskit.
4. Grits is guud eatin.

I never had the grits, but I did try his Cincinatti Chili. That stuff is just plain nasty. Cinnamon does NOT belong in chili.wnazzaro wrote:The first time I had grits was at Scott Watson's house at Kansas. I believe he and Mary made fun of me because I had never had grits before. Scott is a southerner so ya gotta forgive some of his disorders.
BTW, he is going to be playing on the College Teachers' Recital at the TUSAB tubaeuph conference this month.

I just received my 2006 calendar in the mail! I never throw away calendars like this. In 2002 (I think it was 2002) I used a 1945 wall calendar for my office. Of course, I didn't mark it. I used another one to mark dates. But, if I remember correctly, 1945 looked exactly like 2002. January 1 and December 31 were the same. All I have to do now is wait for a year that looks like 2006!
