Error window popping up
I keep getting long pauses followed by a pop up saying something to the effect of "The operation timed out when attempting to contact dg.specificclick.net." Happens all over the TubeNet site.

Sounds like you have stuff on your end. Take a look at something like Ad-Aware or the like to clean it off your computer.lgb&dtuba wrote:I keep getting long pauses followed by a pop up saying something to the effect of "The operation timed out when attempting to contact dg.specificclick.net." This is not coming out of my website, folks. Please Google it and fix it.

I am 99.9% sure this is a client side problem.

The fix itself is necessarily a client side fix, I agree. That said, the spyware had to come from an external site and I haven't seen this on any other site than TubeNet. That's a pretty good indication that it may have spread from your site. Not proof, just an indication. It was certainly trying to exchange cookies with the mother site based on something triggering it on TubeNet (like an ad) or the window wouldn't have been popping only on TubeNet.
No biggie for me - I've killed it off.
Now if I could just get my hands on the S.O.B. who programmed it.

Nothing that I know of here is related to specificclick. If someone is doing something malicious in their signature or the like then let me know.lgb&dtuba wrote: It was certainly trying to exchange cookies with the mother site based on something triggering it on TubeNet (like an ad) or the window wouldn't have been popping only on TubeNet.
Cookies MUST be served by the domain they are associated with. i.e. that cookie you have came from specificclick.net. That is how cookies work.
So again, I stand by my statement that I am 99.99% positive that you picked it up somewhere else and you only notice it when at TubeNet.
