Yamaha YBB621- $3400, SOLD

Post by ScotGJ »

Early model Yamaha YBB621 serial #100028 with hard case. This is a pro model ¾ horn in BBb. I bought this horn last August from the owner of a local music store. The owner said that he bought it used about 12 years ago and played it only a couple times a year. I believe his story because the horn is in very good playing shape (and players in the area say that he rarely played). It has some small dings of no functional consequence, several scratches and a large patch of lacquer is worn off where the right wrist rests on the horn, but (IMO) it looks very good for a 20+ year old horn.

I am selling the horn because my return to playing after a 25 year layoff is moving much faster than I expected (yeah) and I now need a multi-purpose CC.

This horn has excellent intonation and is physically easy to handle and play. The valves are the fastest pistons I have ever played. It has a surprisingly (to me) strong low register and it projects well for a ¾ horn. My quintet has been pleased with the horn and were initially very unsupportive of me selling it.

It is a great BBb horn for small group playing, or for anyone who wants a quality horn in BBb that is physically easy to manage. Some have claimed that these early serial numbers are special-- I personally can not verify that claim because I have not played any other examples of this horn, but I can say that this is a very well built tuba.

It comes with its factory hard case in very good condition. I am fairly new to Tubenet so I will happily provide references you can check at the local college music department (I do some contract work with them) and the local school district (my main employer). I would drive a day from Western Colorado to meet someone for a delivery. Otherwise, buyer would pay shipping. I am asking $3400 for the horn. Please pm me with inquiries. Thanks for looking. Scot
(I am just learning how to use a digital camera so if you want a different angle/clarity picture please let me know)
