Loud Metronome
I'm looking for the loudest metronome I can get for use with my brass quintet. I tried out a Dr. Beat and it seemed a lot quieter then I remember. Perhaps it was a different model but I seem to remember a conductor having one and it practically shouted over the band. Any recommendations would be handy.

Dr. Beat DB-66 (I think that is right) with a really good guitar chord patched into a middling amp regularly drowns out my school orchestras(and they are pretty good, if I say so myself). The total rig set my budget back @ 150.00. This is the Dr. Beat with the famed "Myrtle Furple" voice that my kids HATE. It does the trick.

It never fails to crack up a group who've never heard the "angry female" voice.Chuck Jackson wrote:Yep, Chuck, that's the one. Annoying, loud as hell when amped, multiple divisions, drone pitches, the works. Musicians best friend IMHO.
I wonder if the Yamaha is any easier on the batteries, though. The DB-88 will suck an 9V battery dry in no time at all.

My kids have named "her" Myrtle Edna Furple. That has to be THE most annoying counting I have ever heard, but it is the one that works the best. Go figure. I haven't used batteries yet. I have it on a stand next to me plugged into the wall. It is one the best electronic tools I own.

My kids call my DB90 (newest model) "Layla" and much like yours, can't stand the voice.Chuck Jackson wrote:My kids have named "her" Myrtle Edna Furple. See those little yellow sliders on the DB-88? That controls the volume of the first beat, the quarter note beats, the eighth note beats and the triplet beats.Besson983 wrote:Also, with the Yamaha, you can set the metronome to emphasize the first beat of a measure over the others. That empahasis, when placed on every beat, can be quite loud.
