Denis Wick copy or genuine?

Post by P@rick »

I recently bought a Denis wick 2L (left one on picture). I also own a 5L and 3SL. I was under the impression that all Denis Wick tuba mouthpieces are shaped like the 3SL (right one on picture). So, is my Denis Wick 2L a copy or is it genuine :?:

Thanks

It is genuine. New and old designs, respectively.

Indeed. Instead of a heavier weight mouthpiece, I just like a substantial rim. After having tried both, when it came time to purchase a 1L for my Miraphone, I searched for a used one.

Something looks fishy all right, but not on the Denis Wick side of it. Look at it this way -- they could have copied anyone's mouthpiece - Monette, Laskey, I don't know, name an expensive mouthpiece - but they chose the Denis Wick #2 (OK, probably among others.) Thus confirming that it's a good deal for its relatively modest price.

Or not, I don't imagine the copiers have any idea and personally I'm not crazy about the DW 2. But I would expect it to cost more than a copy. You could copy CDs and sell them for less, too (don't say it was my idea, though.)

The mouthpiece is real; that's what Denis/Steve's mp's look like now.

As for buying a copy for $20, go ahead, but you'll be supporting someone who's ripping off Steve and Denis.

If I talk to Danis, maybe I'll ask her what size a ### is... :D
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

There are also copies of the new style 3 on eBay. For the price, they're not bad.
