For musical performance and sonic impact, what is your favorite recording of this work?

Nothing tops seeing this work performed live. I saw this when I was in graduate school at the Meyerson Center in Dallas with the Dallas Symphony playing (Ev Gilmore was the tuba player). There were two works on the program. The first piece was a Bach Brandenburg Concerto. There is a movable ceiling over the stage. The ceiling was placed low for the Bach piece. Now, there was a problem... The tenor soloist for Carmina died that afternoon of a heart attack and they were frantically trying to find a replacement. They got some one about 5:30 who sang the piece before. But everyone was so nervous they FORGOT TO RAISE THE CEILING.

Boy, was that loud!
