ATU:

Gregson Mvt 1-2, some Hindemith.

Here in Nebraska:

We just pulled random stuff out of my portacabinet and played it. Mostly Strauss Horn Concerto, some Grant Furies, then some sight reading. EDIT: For scholarship auditions, which were seperate here, I played mvt 1 of the VW. (completely crapped the cadenza too, damn!t)

For IC:
first Mvt of the VW on a Cerveny BBb
missed alot of the notes, but Prof. Unland saw potential in an 18 year old kid with a high F on a BBb tuba

If you can pull off the third, play it. The 2nd and 3rd movements are what make the piece, in my mind anyway.

I know romanza was stolen from another VW piece, but I LOVE THAT MOVEMENT.

I played some Kopprasch etudes (the Florida All-state audition material) in my formal audition at the university.

What really won me the scholarship, however, was having my now-professor hear me play at solo and ensemble. She judged a brass ensemble I played in, a brass ensemble that I conducted, and a tuba-euphonium quartet that I sat in on when their second tuba didn't show. It turned out that she had arranged that piece.

I played His Majesty the Tuba while getting over bronchitis and I got enough money to make my first year at the Lawrence Con happen.

I left after my first year because the tuba professor ended up moving to Oberlin to be an assistant dean.

After that I used the 1st movements of the Hindemith and the Vaughan Williams to get into Baldwin Wallace College (got bunch of cash) & Northern Illinois University (tuition free). I know I used at least the VW to get into Chicago College of Performing Arts for Grad School (half ride).
