Here are some Navy Band tuba players stationed in San Diego in 1926.

Salvation Army Los Angeles Citadel Band, 1925

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

That L.A. Salvation Army band looks like a fun group. LOL Do they have something against smiling? The guy behind the bass drum looks positively menacing. And check the vacant expression on the contrabass tuba player's face-----he seems totally disinterested in what's going on. The young tuba player on the right seems to have some life in his face. That's encouraging.

I like looking at those old instruments.

I like the trombone player furthest to the right who either is missing a button on his tunic or couldn't be bothered... :D

Sadly, that Sousa Band picture is missing. But I would assume that the big raincatcher played by the big man was Jack Richardson. He was an amazing player. I used to play gigs with Jake Freeman who often commented that Jack always had to have his music stand positioned a certain way, which was not in the line of sight between his eyes and Mr. Sousa--and Jack never looked at either the music or Sousa. Sometimes, a newby member of the band would reposition Jack's stand to be a little helpful, which caused Richardson to become extremely irritated. There would be some very strong words afterwards.
