Anyone into The Beatles - read on........

Got the following from the BBC Radio 2 site:-

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of The Beatles' legendary album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, multi award winning engineer Geoff Emerick heads back in to the studio to demonstrate the innovative techniques employed for the recording at Abbey Road studios back in 1967.
Some of todayâ€™s most popular acts, including the Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, The Fray and Travis, join Geoff to witness and discuss how he first recorded the album tracks and record their own interpretation of one of the famous tracks, using the original analogue 4-track equipment.
We hear from the artists about the importance of Sgt. Pepper's and listen in on the recording in action to see just how different the experience is for them.
Watch videos and see photos of Bryan Adams, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, The Fray, Magic Numbers, Travis and Stereophonics recording their own interpretations of the famous Beatles' tracks online here using the link below.

I havn't actually listened to the Radio show, but they put a documentary on the tele and it was fab

Following similar topics on our board, it was fascinating to hear the current crop of potential rock/pop superhero's talk about the inspiration they got from past masters in their trade both in technical and musical terms.

I'd put this worthy of a dissertation in someone's degree course.

I watched this the other night..fantastic tribute , really enjoyed the Sterophonics ( Sgt Pepper reprise) , travis ( Lovely Rita) and the kaiser chiefs ( Getting better).

Would have been nice to have a British brass band as a part of the show, too. It has only been since I've known more about BBBs that I realize how much they have influnced the Beatles sound. Paul's father played in one and, since they were just out there to hear, BBBs naturally became part of John and Paul's musical vocabulary. An example is "All You Need Is Love". I can clearly hear the influence and I think it would work if rescored as a tune for a BBB.

I am sure the Black Dyke Band played on yellow submarine ( or the B side of the single), the band were involved in a Paul McCartney tv theme tune called "Thingmybob"
