On Make Room for Daddy, compare Margaret Williams [played by Jean Hagen (1923-77)] with Clancey Williams [played by Marjorie Lord (b. 1918)].
Feel free to discuss.
In 1956, Jean Hagen wasn't happy with her contract on the series, so the star, Danny Thomas became a widower on the series. He married a widow, Kathy O'Hara, who went by the nickname of "Clancey."
Jean Hagen
Marjorie Lord

You lost me at Danny Thomas. Two words for you. Glass table. You dont want to know.
Danny Thomas was my hero! He showed that an average Joe (and and average looking one) could do quite well in show business, keep a family together, and start a hospital for children, without becoming abnormal or paranoid.

Maybe not as early as the 50's, but my ALL TIME favorite TV wife is/was Stephanie Powers. Hart to Hart was the TV show and her counterpart was Robert Wagner.... lucky devil!
OOOH OOOH... what a woman!

Current 'stable'... Rudolf Meinl 5/4, Marzan (by Willson) euph, King 2341, Alphorn, and other strange stuff.
Rosemary de Camp was a widow on the Bob Cummings Show (AKA Love That Bob). Yeah, she was pretty but her brother's models pretty much left her out of the picture:

She was also William Bendix's wife on "Life of Riley". And didn't she advertise Amana refrigerators?
