Hi all! Sorry I haven't posted in while - busy with family issues and planning for retirement from my public school teaching job. As of today, I am unemployed without a regular job, but with more time to do my other teaching gigs and play. I have visited the board often, but never felt I had the time to jump in.
But, regarding the tuba quartet wedding music, I'm happy to say that the Long Island Tuba Quartet has been busy. We played two wedding ceremonies recently, with another coming up in Dec. Of course, before the ceremony and after, there are plenty of selections to choose from in the tuba quartet literature and brass quartet literature, which is easily played by a tuba quartet. As far as the ceremony, we most recently played: Jesu - Bach arr. by Dave Werden ( tuba quartet, publ. Whaling Music) as the bridesmaids walked down the aisle.
Then we played, Trumpet Voluntary - J. Clarke, arr. Peter Rauch (tuba quartet publ., Peter Rauch). For the recessional we played, The Wedding March - F. Mendelssohn, arr. Russ Howard (brass quartet publ. DFT Music Express).
Originally, the bride wanted Canon in D for the bridesmaids. We had a brass quartet arr. of that which we were prepared to play. Then, she changed it to Jesu. I can't seem to locate it right now, so I can't give you the arranger. Check the brass quartet literature - 2 euphs. play the tpt parts, while the 2 tubas play the tbn. euph. (down an octave) and the tuba part or other tbn. part.
Good luck if you get to play a wedding. The people in attendance are amazed at what a tuba quartet sounds like. We received a standing ovation after the last ceremony. And, now we have another coming up in Dec.

We've played for a number of weddings over the past several years- both indoors and outdoors. Once people get over their surprise, they have been very appreciative. We're fortunate that when they ask for tunes that haven't already been arranged for tuba quartet, our 1st euph player Paul Gramann has been able to do some very nice arrangements.
