Brass Band Tuba Feature
The music director wants to feature us. We are looking for:
1. Piece with awesome bass part(s) (Eb and BBb)
-or-
2. Solo (that 2 people can play alternating or maybe together) with brass band
-or-
3. Tuba Duet with brass band (this would be the preference)
Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Brass Band Tuba Feature
Many BB solo tuba parts are done on Eb for obvious reasons. Obrasso's got a few solo tuba works; and I once heard a guy on Eb doing the "Jenny Jones" variations by Rimmer that was pretty interesting.sc_curtis wrote:The music director wants to feature us. We are looking for:

Check the Salvation Army music. About 11 years ago I played a Tuba duet, EEb&BBb, that was really nice and kinda hard. I think the name was "Radiant Path" or something of that nature. The crowd really liked it, but be aware-The EEb part is very tricky as is some of the ensemble stuff. Very much worth the effort. I am sure someone on the TNFJ can zero in on the right name.sc_curtis wrote:The music director wants to feature us. We are looking for:

We just did a duo tuba session with the Belle City Brassworks. We did the Pearlfishers, Carnival of Venice, and an arrangement of When the Tuba does the Rhumba on the Tuba down in Cuba that Ken Norman arranged for us - even had Fidel come up for a vocal!

The audience loved that show! Not to mention it was fun to play (FYI: I play trombone in the Belle City Brassworks). Ken's Fidel impression was definitely the highlight of my day!We just did a duo tuba session with the Belle City Brassworks. A few years ago we did one that had both Eb and BBb solo parts. Darned if I can think of the name of it but I remember the tune:
Bb A Bb G F# G Eb D Eb BBb..
G Ab Bb C D Eb F G Ab F...
If you play that all 8th notes you'll know what piece I mean.
Cucuracha? Some spanish thing. It moved right out and was quite a workout for my still-neophyte Eb chops.

MA, it was "The Mexican Tuba Dance", which followed the basic tune of "The Mexican Hat Dance", I believe.MaryAnn wrote:A few years ago we did one that had both Eb and BBb solo parts. Darned if I can think of the name of it but I remember the tune:
