Buffet's edition of a Besson web site is finally online over 1 1/2 years after Buffet bought the Besson name and product line. Check it out!

Wait until you hear Roland Froescher's YORK euphonium! It's AMAZING!!! Roland got here last night and I got to hear it today. Very cool looking too! Lacquer with some BLACK NICKEL slides and valve buttons!

I've tried it twice & it has locked up my browser each time. Sends the CPU usage to 100%.

Yep, it locked up my browser too. Only thing I got was a blank red page. <shrug>

Hmm. I noticed that even though the front valve version of the Eb is listed, only the top valve BBb is listed, and not the front valve BBb, and not the 5-valve CC.

It appears you must buy through Curtois if you want a Besson trombone. The Hagmann double trigger bass looks to be an almost exact copy of my Besson. Does anyone know if Besson will sell the horns under their own name? Doesn't appear that the red brass bell is an option any longer. The lead pipe and bell are now removeable for what it is worth.

I looked carefully at the Besson web site after I posted the original URL. The good news is that the quality of the new 967S Euphonioum I auditioned recently was much better than their new web site or attached product brochure (both of which are abysmal). I think the only way to know for sure what horns Buffet/Besson are actually producing and importing into the US these days will be to contact Buffet' US HQ in Florida or talk to someone like Davin Vance or Matt Walters at Dillon Music who actually can get real information from Buffet. I found out more about Besson low brass from Dillon Music's web site than from Besson!

The info for the 982 Eb says that the mouthpipe has a higher position than the 981 for those who want to march with the horn. By superimposing the pictures of the 981 and 982, it can be seen that there is no difference in the mouthpipes. They seem to be the same model, just in different finishes. If this is so, did they use the 981 or the 982?

Do not assume that the pictures on the web site are correct. I have found MANY glaring erros. Look at the listing for the Besson tubas on Dillon Music site instead and if you have a question, call them. You will get better information. unfortunatly, the flow of technical information through the Buffet channel and marketing system is virtually non-existnt. They really do not know brass....but if you want a nice clarinet...
