Soprano Tuba

Post by MikeS »

This thing begs a couple of questions. First, did Conn really make this or was it cobbled up in someone's basement using Conn parts? Second, I'll be darned if I can figure out where the rest of the third valve tubing is. It looks shorter than the second valve and the one shot of the back of the instrument shows no tubing behing the valve casings. It could be fun to take to a TubaChristmas (TM, royalty check's in the mail) but I can't imagine what else you'd do with it.

It's got 3 (ea) 1/2 step valves, so I'd say that somebody, somewhere cobbled this together.

Gotta admit, though, it still looks cool... :D
The part I don't get is that after all that effort, why someone didn't fudge a workable 1st and 3rd valve, too!
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

That one is a Jestaedt, a name pretty well known among the German Band community. They build very high-quality instrments. I got a chance to play the one at Dillon's during my last visit and thought it played very nicely indeed.
