Mirafone 186 (yes again)

Post by andrew the tuba player »

Does anyone have any older 4 (or more :D ) valve BBb horns that theyd like to trade for a Mirafone 186 5uc? Id like to stick with a BBb, CC, or an EEb, but what id really like is one of the Moster BBbs from like the...30s and 40s (like yorks and conns). i dunno, my horn may not be worth what they are. ive never really priced a good. one. but if anyone is interested just tell me. I have a conn 20j from our band and i love it, but its not mine and they wont let me play it because the bell points forward ( :( )

Shouldn't this be in the For Sale section?

Bob1062 wrote:Dillon Music has a nice 4 front valve York Monster Eb with a case for about 28xx. They might be up for trading it, and you might even get some money out of it (don't know anything about YOUR 186).

I think they also have some older big 4 front valve Bb Conns.
I'm looking for an F now...I WISH I could spring for an F AND that Eb...it looks oh so yummy! :P

i know. Its massive. think of how well itd resonate with itself much less the whole band. and the bell would spread the sound out good to....wow. but, i dont know if i want an Eb. right now im working on a deal for a Getzen cb50 but this is my back up.

Trading for a big BBb

Post by jeopardymaster »

My old Conn 28J is on consignment at Dillon's Music in New Jersey. It's the custom job on their used tuba list, silver bugle and gold tubing. 5/4 size horn, 4 retrofitted Martin or Selmer valves. It doesn't look like so much, but it is one sweet horn. I can't take your 186 in trade, but maybe they can. Let me know if you're interested. Dave A
