My dad's boss, who is in no way computer savvy, accidentally deleted his ENTIRE iTunes library once. When we first went over there to fix it, I assumed the same thing had happened as the last time he "deleted" iTunes (the whole program)...he dragged it out of the dock. Not so. The whole music library was wiped clean. Had to reload everything. Still don't know what he did....

Quite the opposite.
Where we work, our Dell desktops AND monitors have next day replacement or onsite service; out HP / Compaq servers have 4 hour parts replacement.
Our communications department decided they HAD to go Apple. So we outfitted that department with the best of the best, including a half dozen flat screen monitors (for their uber-designers) the size of which should be in a movie theater and have cost more than a number of cars I have purchased over the years. And, of course, we purchased the full extended Apple Care plan to be fully covered.
Sure enough, one of them goes out about a month later. No biggie I figure, I'll have them up and running within a day. I call the number. On hold and transferred and then on hold some more, for about an hour total. They tell me they do not send anyone onsite. They do not send out replacements. The mega buck monitor, integral to our graphics designers, is considered a peripheral. They will mail me a box. Then I send it back. Then they fix it. When it is fixed in 5-7 business days, they will send it back. I am without a business critical piece of equipment for about two weeks! Sure enough, they sent me a box the next day - but they did not include any return shipping labels with it, and we are NOT eating the shipping costs on somethig so big and heavy. So they send out ANOTHER box a day later, this one includes DHL labels. Maybe we will see our monitor back in a couple of weeks, and we can get another of our graphics workstations back in production.
We even called our reseller, whom we buy several hundred grand worth of equipment from every year, and he had his Apple reps do everything they could do, but the process remained the same. I have been doing IT since 91 and have NEVER had service that bad.
