First to achieve 10,000 posts

Post by Uncle Buck »

Is it even a race to see who will be the first to achieve 10,000 posts? Is anyone other than the obvious even close?

For stat freaks he has:

[4.94% of total / 7.97 posts per day]

He has almost one out of every 20 posts and look at that per day average. Looked at another way - 20 Blokes would be the equivalent of the entire board :!:

On one of the forums I belong to, everyone was racing to get to a certain number of posts. Everyone was closing in on 1,000 at the same time.

Then something terrible happened. Spam. Spam put up by spambots. Always selling some kind of pornographic material or some kind of "male enhancement," they drove a forum that used to have over 100 active posters down to about 15 now. The man who owns that site didn't put up very good spam protection. His chief moderator quit and started his own forum discussing the same issues. I belong to both forums. No one is really excited about getting so many posts anymore there because, I think, everyone is still afraid those spambots will return when the mods aren't around.

They can really make a forum very ugly.

Here are the top 5:

bloke - 9455 posts
Chuck(G) - 6060 posts
windshieldbug - 6016 posts
Doc - 5353 posts
Rick Denney - 3187 posts

Doesn't look like a "race" (really shouldn't be anyways) - I'm fairly confident that bloke will get there first...well, if I spam up the boards I could probably do it (evil laugh).

Even though Rick Denney is #5 on the list for # of posts I bet he would be #1 if based on total words written.

This may be true. I'm really not sure. I think it would be interesting to determine who is #1 in total words written without saying anything of interest. This would definitely not be the "Resident Genius." I seem to remember several candidates from the past. In fact, maybe one from the present. Now that I think about it, it could be me.

That's funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing.

At this rate, he should reach 10,000 on October 13th at 9:07 am.

I hope that by starting this thread, nobody thought I was intending anything negative towards heavy posters. I've always found your posts to be informative and entertaining - I'd probably visit this forum a lot less if it weren't for them.

And I agree, this is a lot better of a leisure-time-waster than most other options.

[EDIT] OK, just got around to reading the Tube Net Freak Jury thread, so I get what this is about now.

I'll try to enjoy my popcorn and stay out of the crossfire.
