Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Wasn't all this started because someone thought himself a little too Spaetzle?

I do admire the Gentle Giant's enthusiasm - he is all about blowing on these horns, and that's what this site is about.

Yes, I posted this is the other thread that devolved into a BashBobFest, but I really wanted to use this image more than once.

Since you are responding to ed, are you implying that you also post under the name Lee Jacobs?

I'm bumping this so we can all join in.

I am irritated right now because I sent him a private message in which I told him how I felt about something he wrote. And then he posted it publicly. Then he told me to lighten up.

This isn't to say that I am angry. I'm not mad. It's not worth it. I consider the source.

Did you hear me say I am not angry?

I am merely irritated that you made a PM public. There's a cardinal forum rule that you never do that.

Bill, I'm going to defend Bob (some more) on this one, and since you've made a public fight, I'm going to let you have it a little bit, in public. If I received a PM that attacked me, I'd be strongly tempted to publish it, especially if the sender mentioned it in a taunt in a public post. You should not send what you don't want publicly published, especially when what you don't want publicly seen is the use of rudeness to attack rudeness.

You cannot have it both ways. You should know from your experience in the Far East that politeness starts with the small things. If you had a beef with Bob, you should have taken it all the way private or just let it go.

There are NO cardinal rules on Tubenet, except for those expressed plainly by the owner. He has done so only rarely, which should be an indication of his views on the matter.

If you don't want to be stung by an ant, don't kick the anthill. Especially over the issue of hijacking your thread, which was not yours to hijack. That is also a long-established plain principle of online forums--the original poster of a thread does not own the thread. You can disagree with the direction it goes, and state your disagreement, but your ideas have to stand up to the same scrutiny as all the others.

I respectfully suggest that you let this go.

Thank you, Rick, for stating what I tried to state in the other thread. You said much better than I ever could.

RE: the MW EEb - You have bass tubas to fall back on if you need to play high. Why settle for a one horn solution, when you can have a bass tuba and a contrabass?

OK, Bob, you won't buy the ones for sale. You continue to waffle among choices that may or may not actually suit your needs/desires/ensembles. Upon the civil attempts to engage in progressive dialog to help you focus on your goal, you go off on tangents. I'm left with having to say it:
