In 1986 I bought a Perentucci gig bag from Jeff Funderburk (I forget now what tuba outlet he was working for then). The bag was toploading, and constructed well. It has a thickly quilted liner with heavy guage naugahyde outershell.
The bag is long gone along with my first Mirafone 186 and I would like to see if that bag is still available.
A pro-tec bag came with my recently purchased 186, and I really don't care for it. The pro-tec will be for sale soon.

looks like that style bag is gone...too bad, I agree, nice bags. My 1984 PT whatever F is still in the original bag, dilapidated though it's getting.

Thank you! It was Custom Music. It is coincidence that the gig bag that I am currently using is a Tuba World / Standard Tuba Gig Bag. Now I'm looking at the Sterling Deluxe Tuba Gig Bag, reading the description and wandering if I should go up a grade. Can anyone compare the Tuba World Standard and Sterling? Is the padding any thicker / more protective?eupher61 wrote:http://www.custommusiccorp.com/

So common sense might actually answer this next question, but I usually have to play politics with my wife when spending money for something that she thinks I don't need. Can anyone else relate with me?
Does the Tuba World Standard Gig Bag come in different sizes?
My Miraphone 186 is putting a lot of stress on the zipper of my Tuba World Standard Gig Bag when closing it. Even if the zipper is good for the stress, this causes the horn to compress the padding at the bottom of the bag, reducing the padding's effect on the bottom bow of the horn.
So can I tell my wife that my Tuba World Standard Tuba Gig Bag is not the right size bag, so I need to get a Deluxe Sterling Tuba Gig Bag for my horn?
