Funny, nobody asked how I know about the Professionals area. heh. And I ain't a-tellin, neither!
Ken, I have heard some of your stuff on acid planet, and it is good. Marketing, as evidenced by a composer whose stuff I abhore but who markets well, is everything, apparently.
Pachyderm, if I ever get those duets in the form you requested, you'll be the first to get a complimentary copy.

Re: No good deed goes unpunished
I'm not quite sure what set you off this time. This time, perhaps you are the one who should go back and read the post again. I made no accusation whatsoever about you, Bob. The entire post(quoted, above) is stated in the positive. As for your final comment: I don't think God should forbid that you mention ONE nice thing about your own playing. You might want to notice that the very best players who frequent this board, some of them who truly have a "world class sound," pretty much never tell that to the rest of us. They don't need to do so. Their playing speaks for itself. Admittedly, you haven't yet had that opportunity to show the rest of us. Perhaps some day you will. Considering the fact that you have often patted yourself on the back, I would say that many of us would very much like to be in the audience when that happens. We will want to see if you can walk the walk as well as you can talk the talk.Bob1062 wrote:I dunno, maybe...TubaRay wrote:But is it a "world class sound?" After all, that is the standard set by several "fine" players on TubeNet. Somehow, I would guess you are likely one of them.Bob1062 wrote: yet somehow still have a great sound and can make some nice music)...

What the hell does that last part mean?
I never said I was perfect, but I do have a nice sound.
God forbid I should mention ONE nice thing about my own playing.
One more bit of advice. Take a look at Rick Denney's("Resident Genius") posts. If you read a few of them, you will probably get the idea that he is a real hack of a tuba player. True enough, he's not in the same league as Gene Pokorney and others, however he's a pretty good amateur tuba player. Those who have spent hours playing tuba with him can tell you that he far surpasses anything he tells us about himself. I hope you are able to do the same.
Lastly, I think you need to get over yourself. For some reason you seem to think you need to fire back on any response to your posts that doesn't somehow affirm you. Furthermore, when you try to "defend" yourself, you seem to resort to emotional outbursts rather that stating facts. This doesn't endear you to the rest of the TNFJ. If you can learn to state your position clearly, and without rancor, I believe you will significantly improve your credibility. As for now, I really don't much care what you have to say. It has its entertainment value, but to me it lacks any real interest beyond that.
Chill out!

Bob: try. If I may butt in here, you're just tilting at shadows, even though there are a lot of good people trying to help you out. Listen to Ray, chill.Bob1062 wrote:I would very much like to forget this and put it behind us. Can we?
"World class sound" is much more of a running joke with the TNFJ® than an insult. And it is not pointed at you, rather your post made an opportunity to quote it once again.
It's good to have confidence in areas of one's playing, but rather than show-off, use that confidence to tell others how to reproduce what you've had success with; by the same token, LISTEN when the conversation moves to another area.
If I may also say, it seems that you often assume (incorrectly) that things are said about you, or are insulting you. What Ray said about about forums was not that you meant TubeNet, rather, it was another reference to the TNFJ®'s tendency in the past to imply that there IS only one correct approach, so it was a poke at the TNFJ®, if anything.
Ray's point, as was Miles Davis, was to "Say it with silence".

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

"On June 1, 2006, the video hosting website YouTube was taken down temporarily for maintenance. The phrase "ALL YOUR VIDEO ARE BELONG TO US" appeared below the YouTube logo as a placeholder while the site was down. Some users believed the site had been hacked, leading the host to add the message "No, we haven't been hacked. Get a sense of humor.""
