Baltimore Brass Tuba Stand

Post by Alan Baer »

Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know about Dave's latest and greatest...
Baltimore Brass will have in stock (any time now) their new tuba stand. The base is wonderful and the head is a cradle type with foam on top to protect the horn. VERY NICE!
It folds up nice and small and best of all, it isn't an arm and a leg!!
Check it out on the Baltimore Brass web site! I just used mine for the first time today and it's great!

difference

The difference between the two is:

-the old model used a Konig and Myer type of top which made it noticeably heavier. However, the larger top did seem to hug the horn a little better....maybe?

-the new model has the same BBC base and legs but uses a top VERY similar to the DEG top. This makes the overall stand weight much lighter without really losing much, if any, security from the top. The new BBC model will also have a pin to secure the new top to its base.
(As you know, on the DEG stands, the tops just slip on and off their base....very insecure.)

I was also told there should/will be a MUCH quicker turn-around on orders for the new tops and he should/will be able to get orders out more quickly.
