I've had my BB1 for a little over a year and I also need to buy a new one/get it replated. The silver on these mouthpieces do run thin. The first BB1 I ordered (new) came to me with half of the rim still raw - so I traded it for another.

No plating issues on my BB1 after a couple of years.
It is impossible to make things foolproof because fools are so ingenious.
