Symphonie Fantastique/NY Phil circa 1973
Anyone have an idea? It's the version conducted by Bernstein. The tuba sound doesn't come out well, (it's an LP.) But it is still a good recording. I can't think of who played tuba in the NY Phil during this time.

Definitely Joe Novotny. I studied with him in the summer of 72. We worked on F. S. and he told me they were going to record it. He didn't mention the 2nd tuba part and I don't think I even knew back then that there was a 2nd tuba part. Could the 2nd part have been played by Toby Hanks? Or, if the sound is not that present, could it have been recorded with only 1 tuba part?
