Something is screwed up with my .mov's playing in QT, so I just use VLC Player.

The new version is so flashy and "ugh", so I don't even wanna go there.

No Quick Time here for a long time since it was obvious it was not clean. The same goes for some other popular "free" programs.

Learn to use regedit (very carefully) and you can remove most troublesome programs permamently from auto loading. They are usually located under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run

Virtually every program out there has some kind or startup or autoupdate that they throw in there. Removing a dozen of these can make your PC boot much faster and have more available RAM.

I was fooled once. (Shame on Apple.) Fortunately, I have the knowledge to wipe a program completely off of my computer.

If you don't like the FREE program and are bothered by features to which you agree during the installation process, and you rarely use the FREE program's features, then just delete it.

I think that is probably the point. By providing these software programs free of charge, they want you to get used to using them. Most folks will put up with it. Some won't. I've never found Quick Time to cause me any problems, but it obviously did for you.

Mac users hate Windows Media Player just as much as Windows users hate Quicktime.
