Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

I guess I'm the only one who is not going to fight the urges. On first glance I thought it said Please help he HATE my Eb Martin Sousaphone. It's not that funny. In fact it's rather confusing.OldsRecording wrote:Funny- I thought the exact same thing...Tubaryan12 wrote:me too, man...me too.greatk82 wrote: Fighting..the..urges....![]()

Beleive it or not.... there was a day when Eb was a more popular school horn than BBb for starting kids out on tuba. I started playing in 1955 and didn't even see a BBb tuba until 1963!tubashaman wrote:Random question, what was the point of having an Eb sousaphone back then

the BBB standard of 2 Eb/2BBb was common in earlier 1900s US bands too. Ever wonder why so many marches and concert literature are frequently written in octaves?
Having the octave doubling can add a lot of clarity to the bass line. According to Wm Revelli (the late "Chief") it was quite effective in marching as well as in concert settings.
Thus, an Eb sousie.

Treble clef players (like trumpeters) could easily be "converted"; the fingerings on bass clef being the same if you overlayed bass clef + 2 sharpstubashaman wrote:Random question, what was the point of having an Eb sousaphone back then

Yep. That's what happened to me. I was late getting to the bandroom for sign-up and all the cool stuff was already taken! I got the old Eb Conn tuba.windshieldbug wrote:Treble clef players (like trumpeters) could easily be "converted"; the fingerings on bass clef being the same if you overlayed bass clef + 2 sharpstubashaman wrote:Random question, what was the point of having an Eb sousaphone back then
