Miraphone Linkage Problem

Wood, I have a complete set of the grey nylon ball-ends for the Miraphones. I used them to replace some on my old 188. They were expensive, but they worked. PM me if you're interested.

I also considered upgrading the linkage (other than the do-it-yourself dubro ball and sockets) and didn't want to invest that much.

has the white ones AND the gray ones. They may be able to get them to you if you know who to call. Contact Eric McKee, the head of the Brass Department, at 1-800-348-5003, extension 2264 and he can check with Miraphone to see if it is a warranty item and arrange to get the correct ones to you and will pay to bring the wrong ones back and reimburse you.

He's a good guy and knows the business well, just mention my name.

A guy in community band has the same grey cracking. He did the switcharound with the good grey ones on the rotor end and the Dubros on the paddle ends.

Of course, Roger's advice is best, but if you can't wait on the shipping out of new ones....

Another reason that I still like old "S" arms.

Jeff Stelling upgraded mine to the new linkage. It wasn't that expensive and the valves are a dream. Dubro linkages are only slightly better than what Miraphone's had. It is a quick fix, but they can be contrarians. The bearing miraphone linkages are very good compared to old clockwork linkages, dubro, and the grey nylon ones.


He did it cheap and it looks great, any reputable brass guy would probably do the same for not much.

dubro parts will work on the ends closest to your hands. they will not work on the valve side because of the rotation on the valve.

With some VERY minor modifications you can install the DuBro parts on either end of the linkage. You simply mount the DuBro ball ON TOP of the stop arm instead on in the slot originally occupied by the 'S' link.
